Rather than just trying new practices, it sounds as though you may first need to identify exactly what it is you want as the outcome(s) of these new practices. One way to do this is to hold an Open Space session, inviting everyone who has a stake in the outcome. Open Space Technology can handle groups of all sizes (the largest on record is 1500) but I prefer groups of 20 to 50 people. The key to making this a useful exercise is in writing the invitation. Interesting, start with what employees perceive is "wrong" and think about how that can be addressed.

Some innovative changes I have seen are flexible work schedules; open work spaces where individuals can gather to work together or get away from their routine areas (sometimes a change in atmosphere stimulates new processes or improvements); I like cross-training because it introduces new perspectives to old tasks and helps individuals understand each other's jobs so they can be more supportive of one another, it also makes your workforce more flexible and it doen't require any special equipment or investment. There are pros and cons to any OD initiative, best to think it through before trying it.
