We have a system of getting the employees to fill out 'Time Sheets' for at the week end. That is they have to write doen how many hours they spent working for each day during the week. The time sheets are submitted each firday. Of course, certain things like lunch break is taken into consideration. Plus, the time put is is also checked by the swipe machine. Hope this gives you an idea of how you can start.

Thanks for your reply but I think you have misunderstood it.
I was talking about the minimum "Value Added Training Hours" to be provided per employee as per industry standards and not the working hours.

Thanks a lot!

You can decide, in consultation with the upper management how many hours should your employees get per year. What I did before was grouped employees into Management Level, Supervisory and Rank and File. Management Level must acquire at least say, 24 hours training a year, supervisory 16 hours, and so on. And for them to comply, we made sure that this have points in their annual performance appraisal.

Hope this helps.

3% of hours trained to hours worked has been our standard for many years.

3% is what I have seen in the literature, usually it increases for roles that have more organizational responsibility, some companies invest as much as 10% or more to develop leaders

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
