Looking for a quick teambuilding icebreaker that will be used to start a meeting in a nursing home to discuss staff concerns about sharing work and responding to patient calls for assistance. Try to encourage teamwork and discourage the "it is not my patient" "it is not my job" attitude.

I always like to use one called "If you were an animal..what would it be?" Then they have to tell why they picked that animal and what traits they asscoiate with. This lets people be creative and have fun too! It is one of the best ones out there.
Good luck!

Try this, it's an improv game called group counting.
Divide the class into groups of 7-10 people and have each group stand in a circle facing in. Then, tell the groups they are to count to 20. The may not go in order around the circle but rather in random order. If two people say a number at the same time or if there is a pause of more than 2-3 seconds the group must start over at 1.
You can debrief the exercise by talking about communication (non-verbal), interdependence, recognizing progress and achievement (groups tend to count a bit farther each time), shared responsibility, etc.
For a bigger challenge have them do the same with their eyes closed. I have actually had groups say it was easier with eyes closed.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
