Good morning,
I recently was the program coordinator for a Mentor Program at a corporation of about 2000. Primarily call center environment...THe program we used was a basic outline as follows:
1. Employees who demonstrated excellent work ethics, knowledge of their position, respect for company and policies, a desire to work with others, and a positive attitude were referred to the program by their supervisors. These candidates then were interviewed by myself and other staff development trainers, and a member of HR. Once selected, they received more intense trainig on Mentoring (communications, protocol for the company, etc.), they received a name badege that identified them as a company mentor or ambassador. This way, they could be approached by any employee for questions or advice. The mentor would formally be assigned to a new employee for at least 30-45 days. Upon assignment they received ann incentive of $100.00. At the end of the 30-45 days, with a positive evaluation from the new employee and a positive 30 day review of the new employee, the mentor recieved an additonal $100.00. I know this is alot to read, but it was a positive program and the workforce seemed to enjoy and appreciate the relationships.
