I'm working on a company proposal to support existing managers to job shadow senior executives. I would appreciate some professional feedback on job shadowing. Here's some background:
Our pilot program will give interested managers a chance to observe the life of a busy executive in a particular business area. The goal is to give these managers some insight into the professional responsibilities as well as personal qualities (i.e. leadership, strategic thinking) required to be successful in a senior executive position. The one-week placement also intends to provide the manager with a chance to network and to help them with next steps in career planning. The one week placement is not intended to be a training or mentoring session.
Given this, can you help with ideas on how to "prepare" an interested manager for an effective placement? We're developing a "Guide for the Host" and a "Guide for the Participant" and we're stumbling on the particpant guide.
I also welcome any concerns or questions that can come from a senior executive's perspective. Why? I think it's important to properly sell an idea and that means anticipating the right questions. Thank you.
