Anyone have good time management resources or programs? I am developing an interactive, 3 hour session. Covey training is not an option at this time, but I do have the quads to reference. Just feels like this "old" topic needs a new spin. Any suggestions are appreciated!

Hello,
We have a time management system in our HRMS. Here you can schedule or allocate time to different employees and projects. Commonly know as timesheet, where you manage and see time frames allocated to different projects. For further info please visit www.paylitehr.com

Were looking for something along the lines of an in-house training module, not a system, to help new managers . There are a number of products out there by various training companies. Would be interested to know what experience others have had with these tools.

Time Management is very topical right now with organizational budget based "insert word du jour" sizing. Isn't it all about personal productivity? You can prioritize and assign tasks until you drop but if the staff cannot process, analyze, and act in a productive way what good does it do? Along with TM we really need to do some basic training in reading, writing, critical thinking and work ethic. Faster computers and all the new software that IT can throw at the problem is not the answer. It really is all about personal productivity and motivation.

Happy New Year!

I've seen mixed results with time management training, if your employees are stressed for time because of competing demands, management inefficiencies or too many meetings, time management training can be perceived as insulting - rightly so.

Covey has been the most successfully received in my experience because it focuses on what the individual values the most - see the difference? But even then, folks have complained that it only works if they have more control over their own scheduling, some departments are not able to grant them more choices in where and when they work.

If you can't use Covey, try to create a curriculum from the employees perspective; but I would advise to look for potential landminds. Maybe you could do a voluntary bookclub/lunch and learn and review the Eat the Frog book and have participants talk about what works for them.

And, don't forget to focus some attention on what the employees actually do. If spreadsheet creation is a major emphasis maybe a refresher class in Excel would be in order. If reading is a major part of each day maybe a speed reading class would be of real help. Don't just focus on the abstract but look for real training to increase personal productivity.

It sounds like you are looking for information on how to link training/educational content to the requisite KSA&Os. I learned that from Irwin Goldstein's book "Training in Organizations" although I'm sure there are other sources.

Not sure what you are looking for regarding technologies, but maybe look up simulation centers and distance learning formats for some ideas.

Hello friend,
Nice forum..
I liked the discussion..so wanted to join it..I think time management is a kind of skills, tools, and techniques which is used to manage time in completing specific tasks, projects and goals. This includes planning, allocating, setting goals, delegation, analysis of time spent, monitoring, organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing. Initially time management is useful in business or work activities only, but now the term has broadened to include personal activities also. It is a system designed as a combination of processes, tools and techniques.
Well it's a long topic to discuss but I got some of it's good points from http://www.jimclemmer.com/online-book-store-audio-leadership-books-leadership-management-time-management.php.this also.

Regards,
Nelson
