Professional Development critial achievements

Can anyone share what criteria they are using for their goals in professional development. I’d like something more specific than just the number of staff members attending a Prof. Dev. opportunity each year.

In most cases, tying an employee’s actual job performance improvement to a prof. dev. course is though since the classes aren’t about new skills, just updating existing ones.

Thoughts and ideas appreciated.

A lot of organizations use competencies and performance appraisal data to identify gaps and then they evaluate their training efforts based on how well the gaps were addressed. You could do the same thing using the learners' personal goals and their satisfaction with meeting them. As long as their goals align with the overall organizational strategy.

Thats a great strategy for measurement on the individual level deltac. Right now Im trying to come up with criteria for professional development on a company level.

then aggregate the individual data on an organizational or departmental level...focus on the skills that drive strategies
