Creating Accountability

Hello,

I'm putting together a training, directed towards manager and supervisor level employees on accountability. I identified my main topics as creating a culutre of accountability, personal accountability, and managerial accountability.

I'm looking for ideas for activities for this training. I'm open to any type of games, situational, or role play activities that would help me teach the topic of accountability.

I have been doing Accountability Training for many years. We have done many things, but the best one so far (esp with associate level) was a "choose your response" exercise. We created real life scenarios and then in small groups, we gave them three canned choices to the accountability scenario. As a group, they had to choose one and we made some of them hard. Then, we would debrief them as good, better, best. For example, associate is on a team and another co-worker is also on team and misses a key deadline but doesn't let anyone know. What do you do? A. Report it to the manager B. Tell the associate they messed up and need to fix it C. Talk to the associate to find out what the issue is and discuss what to do to get back on track

Some will pick "tell the manager"...then we talk about the implications of going straight to the manager verses addressing it with the associate first. And, when you address with the associate, what do you say to remain positive and solve for the problem (thus C is the best answer)

If you are trying to address managers using phrases such as 'THEY did not allow me to give you a raise' or 'Sorry you have to do this, but that's what THE MANUAL says', you can teach a lesson about aligning personal values with company values.
