I always believed that religion is a very private issue that should never be obliged on someone else, so I do agree that the name "CHRISTMAS PARTY" is not correct as it obliges a religious event on someone else.
As a company, we decided that we should organise social events calling them "Lets get together". They work great and do not impose anything on anybody.
