I work in human services, and my job is to help people with mental disabilities find and keep jobs. My client is the job seeker, but I know I need to value the perspective of the employer. I'm interested in any posts that could give me insight into the employer's point of view.

To limited degree, I can offer tax credits, job analyses, consultation on accommodations, temporary one-on-one job coaching...And of course, qualified applicants.

I'm not looking for charity, just opportunity.

Advice anyone?

What is the nature of your organization? Are you a non-profit? CRP (Community Rehabilitation Program?

I do not work for a CRP. The local CRP is private non-profit, and I contract out to them for Evaluation Services, for Work Adjustment Services, and for some Supported Employment Services. I work as a rehabilitation counselor for the North Carolina Division of Vocational Rehabilitation.

Daily Q&A

How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?

Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
