Company policies on Dress Code
For every news story, thereÂ’s a workforce-management angle. Discuss them here, or read Work Views for more opinions.
I am interested to know what your organization's policy is on the dress code for the organization and how business casual is defined by your organization.

There is a similar post on the General Forum board that received several responses. Might want to check it out.
The company I work for currently does not have a dress code but assume employees will use common sense. We are very business casual and during the summer I wish they would implement a dress code but then again I would be the one going around measuring skirts, etc. because the managers would not do it. Main problem - must have manager support when trying to enforce a dress code.

I work for a company that houses about 50 (mostly young) employees in the home office, and we are business casual Monday through Thursday and casual on Friday. Guys pretty much wear polo shirts and khakis, but women are all over the map. I have a dress code that is sent around once a year (with minor changes due to fashion trends), but is hardly ever followed. I have tried to talk to serious offenders (mini skirts and halter tops), but management has pretty much drawn the line at that. I totally agree with the above post that you must have full management support in order to properly implement a dress code policy. From my experience, it seems that people will push the limits just to see how far you will let them go. This has been a nightmare for me, as it seems to be for others in our field. I would like to believe that people have enough sense to dress themselves appropriately for work, but this does not seem to be the case in my office. Some females take offense when I mention something about inappropriate attire, and I have been told that I am picking on the pretty girls. Sometimes you just can't win...

Daily Q&A
How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?
Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
