It has been two years since our supervisory staff in our inbound call center has had an opportunity to change their shifts. Our VP Cust Svc says supervisors need to stay with their teams no matter what shifts the team members have so their is continuity in coaching etc employees. The non-exempt employees have three shift bids in a year. Supervisors have life changes also and should be allowed to do at least one shift bid a year. That way there would be satisfaction for the supervisors and their team would have the same supervisor for at least one year. I currently have representatives who start work at 6am and the last representative's shift is over at 11p. The VP expects the supervisors to be available to their reps no matter what the reps schedule is. It's also a budget consideration as it costs quite a bit of money to move people around. Anyone have any ideas how to please upper management and please supervisors who are becoming extremely burnt out and dissatisfied with their positions and the lack of support and respect from upper management? When the dissatisfaction is brought to the attention of upper managment, the response is if you don't like it you can leave.

there is no point in working with someone with closed mind. shifts are to be given at the convenience of the people who work. there can be slightly strict rules that one cannot have same sgifts through out th year, he or she has to change in once in a year or twice. but beeing deaf to the views of the workers will lead to frustration, decreased morale and high attrition rate.
its better to look in for some other opportunities.
all th best.

Thanks for the reply. I have 5 yrs to go before age & number of years required before I can retire. It's a shame that I now have to look elsewhere...the stress is unbelievable..you could cut it with a knife. I'm not the only supervisor who is disgruntled with the attitude of the VP.
