Our company averages approx $72,400,000 in sales annually in annuities/life insurance products. We have approx 110 ees at this time. Do any of you have similar size companies in our industry? I'm specifically wanting to find out how many ees should a company of this size have in the various dept. The problem lies w/the parent company going bankrupt and the subsidiary (us)have the support groups (finance/IT)as well as the insurance ops groups. I believe we can further reduce our staff, reduce operating costs and make the company more attractive for a potential buyer. However, my background is not in this area. Can you help? Thank you,

Lean & mean is usually required during such times. Bankruptcies are not a normal operating condition so benchmarks for your company are not likely to be available. I recommend that you quickly become an expert in "lean" techniques and staffing strategies. lead this the program to get more done with fewer people. I strongly recommend a team oriented, employee involvement approach. Good luck

I apologize for not responding to your follow up question. The key to lean is having the right people in the jobs and developing those who are not performing to expectation. It is based on an occupational assessment that measures the critical success factors among your best employees in each job group. All others are compared to the benchmark for focused development efforts. Those who respond are retained. Those who do not are replaced with people who closely match the benchmark.

Its an efficient and cost effective process that is self administered. I can serve as back up or be directly involved depending on your needs and wishes.
