Our company is very family-oriented and very generous when it comes to giving employees paid time off. We are currently discussing when the office should be open/closed over the upcoming Christmas season. We want to be fair to our employees, but also ensure our clients will be attended to. My question is, when will your company be open/closed over the holiday season?

Typical days businesses close over the holiday season include Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. I have worked for companies who were open 12/24, but closed at noon. Depending on the business you are in, there usually isn't too much going on from noon to 5 pm on 12/24 anyway. On the other hand, I have also worked for companies who remained open. It just depends on your customer/client's needs.

I work for a bank and we will be closed Christmas Day. We are also closed on the Saturday before Christmas so that all employees can enjoy a 3 day weekend with their families.

we're closed between Christmas and New Year, but we post out a notice to clients beforehand, so they know about it, and have emergency contact numbers & delayed payment arrangements on the note.

The company I work for is closed this year Christmas Day until the day after New Years. We base our time off by our customers' days off.

With our Christmas shutdown, all 400 ee's will be paid based on a 40 hour work week for the time we have off. Also with this, we get that 40 hour check before the actual Christmas week, so the Friday before Christmas we will actually receive two checks.

I am self employed so it's hard to close when you have such a slack employee and such a jackass for a boss. Just joking - Merry Christmas and happy Holidays to all.

I work for a local community college. We are closed for a winter holiday to include December 22nd-January 01st. The state did this a few years back to deal with a budget "crunch" issue. The colleges/universities liked it so much, that they continued it. In this, we forfeit other holidays during the year like President's Day, Veteran's Day, etc.

We are a software company with a focus on retail and are only closed on Christmas Day but being a Monday through Friday shop, that also gives us the weekend.

We were also closed both Thursday and Friday for the Thanksgiving holiday.
