We have a few employees that took 3 days to get to a worksite instead of the normal one day trip...does anyone know if we have to pay them for all 3 days without a natural diaster happening like the roads were flooded or something? if we do have to pay them the other two days, is it 8 hours each day? or more or less???

Did anyone ask them why it took them three days instead of the usual one?

Weather is easily verified, and major traffic issues that would cause someone to take 3 days rather than 1 to travel should be verifiable with the state police or local police. I'd be extremely suspect. Do they have gas receipts that you can check the time/location? That might help you solve the mystery.

I agree...I already advised my boss to request all receipts to timestamp their whereabouts...and we're not paying down time...we're only paying them for time actually traveled.

Daily Q&A

How Do We Keep Our Best During Upheaval?

Things are getting scary for us. We recently had to downsize, and since then have lost some of our best people to other jobs. Aside from boosting their pay (which isn't feasible now), what practical steps can we take to keep them from quitting on us?
