I'm new to HR. I'm would like to know that best route to get into HR. I'm in the process of completing my Masters in HR; I'll be finished in about a month. I've recently been promoted as a time and billing admin. in a law firm. But that's not what I really want to do. Other than the time and billing, I have no real HR experience. I'm finding intern positions, but I need to continue to work full time. What can I do to get my feet wet, while staying a float (finanically) while gaining experience? |

A great way to make the change may be to start doing it in your company first. Look for opportunities on how you can add value to your own HR function. Think about areas of expertise that you have and those that you can now use in some aspect of HR work.
The best way to do this would be to have an open and exploratory conversation with the head of your HR department. Tell them what you are thinking and ask for ways you can explore potential opportunities. Another way could be through special projects or small assignments where you are working in the HR area for 1 day/week. Consider doing some research also before you start.
