I have been recruiting for approx 10 years.
I am ready to make a move into a more generalist position but I am not sure how to do this. My resume is slanted towards recruiting since that has always been my primary job function. To put another title on there would be misleading, but the fact is that since I work in a 2 person office, my job is rarely just recruiting. I work with employees all the time, I help with benefits, employee relations, compensation, running reports, etc.
I think that when people see my resume though and my title has always been recruiter, I may be overlooked for positions. any advice?

Try this.

we will assume your title is recruiter.

Recruiter, XYZ Company

Perform HR generalist duties in compensation, benefits, recruiting and employee relations.

Then list your accomplishments

If you insist on writing "recruiter, recruiter, recruiter," you will continue to get the same results you have been getting. As you said youself, the title "recruiter" does not reflect what you have been doing and it is misleading to the reader. I'll send you a copy of the PDF on our Two-Minute Pitch, which will help you to reposition yourself on your resume.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
