My name is David Hyte. I am a student and my buddy and I are trying to launch a new online hiring service website. It is up and running (somethinghire.com), but would like to improve it even more. We have created an 8 question survey and ask that anyone in HR to take the survey. We ask for only five minutes and would help us tremendously. And it will end up helping HR people too! Thanks again.

Just click on the link below to take the survey.

Gee David. I wonder how many responses you're getting to your query. If you post your query elsewhere, do not identify yourself as a student and don't sound so casual about you and your buddy trying out this idea. Instead, position yourself so readers are likely to take you more seriously. Your website looks relatively sophisticated, so you need to keep that image in all of your communications. That's part of the business game.

I hope you take this feedback in the spirit in which it was given. I wish you luck in your new venture.

I'd have to agree with Kate's comment. Your site is very nice and professional but you should come across a a bit more professional in this communication.

On a separate note, I'm the original founder of career/match which licensed a similar job board solution to gettinghired.com which deployed a similar concept. I have some thoughts I can share with you offline on some things you may want to incoporate as well. Feel free to email me.

Daily Q&A

How to Address Flagging Motivation?

How do I increase motivation levels in the department? How do I brand my business unit as an attractive place to work? I have top-notch IT professionals in my business unit who feel they are "children of a lesser God" because they are non-billable resources and do not get plum postings abroad, nor the glamour that goes with them. As a result, their motivation suffers.
