Keep it generic and try not to go off on the past employer. Something along the lines of "it wasn't a environment in which I felt comfortable" would be your best bet. If the interviewer presses, turn it to a positive and say that there was more emphasis on internal politics than on goal achievement.
And then steer the conversation towards your accomplishments.
