I have applied to, and been accepted to Abilene Christian University's online Masters in Science HR program. I am looking into also applying to the University of Illinois's online Masters in Education

Don't blame you. Right now I'm fuming about having an OD HR leader who thinks staffing is a purely transactional process and who up until recently ignored it.

He's paying the price now - seems like he overlooked the simple fact that of all the things HR can and should do for line managers, staffing ranks pretty high. So of course his solution is an action plan (a sure sign of a weak leader). And he's also totally overlooked the fact that developing an organization means bringing in the right people to begin with.

But thanks, Deltac. I totally understand the sensitivity! I'm gonna slink away and go fume for a while.....

Hmmm, sounds like we could solve this by switching leaders for awhile.

Seriously, someone with an OD perspective should understand systems and how working together to prevent problems is always better than solving them.

It seems like everywhere I look these days, I see these artificial divisions between people. They are not motivated by the work or issue at hand, it's more about their personal agendas and who gets to be right. It scares me because we can't afford this kind of nonsense. I know this always happens when economies get tight, but that's when people need to pull together and learn from each other.

Anyway, Nork I sympathize. Cricket, I wish you luck, as you can see we need some new blood!
