I am considering filing bankruptcy, but am concerned that this will be a problem if I need to change jobs in HR. How concerned should I be?

IMO you should not be concerned regarding your HR opportunties.
First most employers do not do credit checks for HR jobs since it is hard to do the BFOQ tiein.
Second, the number of people that have been forced into bankruptcy the past 10 years is so high that virtually everone knows someone that has had to do this.
It is same with being laid off. Back in the day if you were "laid off" it was a "black mark" that you had to overcome. Now it is so common that one even thinks about it.

Sorry for your situation. Just have an honest explanation ready, especially if your circumstance is beyond your control due to the economy.
