I am interested in policies related to internal job postings. Specifically, what are your company’s policies regarding eligibility of employees to apply for internal jobs—are they required to remain in their current job for a period of time before they can apply for another position with the company? If so, can their supervisor waive the requirement? Is a distinction made between exempt and nonexempt for eligibility to bid? What about length of time required to post jobs internally prior to posting outside the company?

We require employees to be in their current position a minimum of 6 months to post for a lateral position. However, we place no time restriction if it's a promotional opportunity. Employee's must have a meets expectation rating or higher to be eligible. We make no distinction for exempt vs. non-exempt. However, we do state that for purposes of successtion planning we reserve the right to not post certain positions. We post positions internally for 7 days. We may also run an external ad simultaneously when we feel certain that there would be no internal interest -- or any qualified internal candidates.
