E-Learning software recommendations?

We have approx. 60 members of management and would like to begin doing e-learning, rather than conducting classroom management training. We really just want to make sure all of our managers know what is illegal and unacceptable behavior when disciplining, etc. Many of our managers are first time managers and need some pointers. Any reccomendations for e-learning software that would accomplish this?

The software you choose is really dependent on 2 things: what you want to achieve and your current training needs. There are lots of good software out there, but you need a sound understanding of the technology and how it can meet your needs. You also need the right technical skills to ensure the programs you create are successful.

You need a combination of sound Instructional design, a good programmer and graphics designer who will with your Subject Matter Expert to create a positive learning experience. It can be quite a task to handle in house.

Have you considered outsourcing? There is a company I would recommend - INCITE Training. They're a smaller company so the customer service is really great. Their experience really shows through - they perform a comprehensive needs analysis and give you only what you need. They also do consulting - so if you just need a review of your current training state and infrastructure - that's all they'll do and recommend a solution.

From what I have seen www.excellencethroughdiversity.com seems like a great application.

(man these guys better pay me a salary for the plugs I have been giving them).

Hi! I am currently taking e-courses through flexstudy.com. I volunteered to be the guinea pig on this as we looking at using their services for our Succession program. Excellent resource that bears looking in to.

Unless you have some unique requirements, you can very likely find useful e-learning modules off the shelf. Look through catalogs from SkillSoft, Thomson/NETg, Pearson etc. for suitable courses.

If you are thinking to develop your own and have time and budget constraints, consider a PowerPoint to e-learning 'converter' such as Articulate Presenter (www.articulate.com) which is great if people in the company have already developed good presentations on the topic.

For delivery and tracking, consider using a free or low-cost commercial learning management system such as Moodle (www.moodle.com) or NetDimensions EKP Bronze (http://www.netdimensions.com/shop/bronze_info.php).

Seriously consider using an experienced instructor, perhaps from outside the company on a contractual basis, to orchestrate the whole program, answer questions, remind learners what is expected of them and why, keep individuals on track and perhaps conduct some exercises or games as reinforcement.

Remember, it's not just about what they learn, it's what they DO with what they learn that really matters. The project isn't finished until they are putting the learning into practice. Find a way to confirm this if you want to prove that the project was successful.
