I'm hearing that the healthcare exchange is going to end up being too expensive, and that a lot of applications are going to be kicked out for various reasons, and that even Congress doesn't know how to handle this. (already happening) So this question may be moot. What are others hearing?
This is really incredible! You will NEVER be able to have it all. Life is about choices, the same ones our parents had to make. If your children are important to you, and they certainly should be, then you have to choose them. Really! That's going to mean sacrificing your career, or change it. You can't have it both ways. This is the kind of thing you learn as an adult -- it doesn't matter how your idealistic parents tried to raise you (and that's a good thing), there are still choices you have to make as an adult. The same choices we all have to make. You can choose to not have children, like many choose to do. Then you can concentrate on your career. One or the other suffers. But please, don't blame companies. They are NOT responsible for you. YOU are responsible for you.
These Millenials might want to look at Roth IRA's instead of 401k's. By the time they retire, the tax rates are surely going to be much highet than they are now, not to mention their money worth less. With a Roth IRA, they can pay the taxes NOW instead of waiting for a future higher rate when they retire. Their money will then be tax free -- unless our government decides to double tax it -- now and when they take it out.
