No Little Town Blues: NYC Offers the Most Top Jobs
Regains Status as Hottest Market
Big Jobs in the Big Apple: New York has supplanted San Francisco as the hottest
job market for jobs paying $100,000 or more, according to a quarterly summary
produced by TheLadders.com, an online job service. There are more than three job
seekers for every six-figure job available in the Big Apple, with MetLife,
Global Financial Services Co., Avaya, Schering-Plough and Merck doing much of
the high-end hiring. New York is attracting the most job seekers from other
parts of the country. San Francisco and Boston also remain strong as companies
like Cisco Systems, Google, Sun Microsystems, Fidelity Investment and Liberty
Mutual all are seeking to increase their management ranks, according to
TheLadders.com. Detroit, Dallas and Tampa, Florida, all have seen decreases in
out-of-state job searches. —Garry Kranz
