CEOs: Keep Employees Working While They Train

Chief execs want greater accountability from HR and development pros, a survey finds.

Results From Training: Companies are trying to deliver more training to employees on the job and through e-learning, reflecting a “growing demand for accountability” from training and development functions, according to a study by Novations Group. The research indicates that, instead of relying heavily on traditional event-based methods, corporate trainers are being pressured to minimize the amount of time employees spend away from their jobs attending training courses. But while CEOs may wish this to be the case, instructor-led classroom training remains the primary means of delivering training for 87 percent of companies. Fifty-seven percent are gravitating toward more online and electronic learning, with 42 percent of firms making “greater efforts to quantify results” of training initiatives, according to Novations’ survey of 2,046 senior HR and development professionals.
