Are You Better Than Your Boss?

A Korn/Ferry survey suggests most execs think they could outdo the boss.

Who’s the Boss? According to a just-released survey by Korn/Ferry, 73 percent of executives say they could outperform their bosses. Moreover, nearly two-thirds (65 percent) aren’t shy about it, professing a desire to one day occupy the boss’s job. Fourteen percent of executives rate their bosses’ performance as below average, while another 11 percent rate it as poor. Nevertheless, 42 percent say the boss’s performance is either excellent or above average, with 23 percent giving grades of average to the top decision-maker. About 65 percent say they trust their bosses, too, while 35 percent say they do not.
