Potty Parity: Survey Finds More Unisex Bathrooms in Workplaces
Workers say the era of separate toilets for the sexes is going the way of the dinosaur.
Remember to Flush: Here is one more reason to pay attention to whether the
toilet seat is up or down. According to Gender Issues in the Workplace, a survey
conducted by careers Web site Vault.com, more than half of all U.S. workplace
restrooms are gender-neutral. The survey polled nearly 725 workers across
various industries, with 56 percent of respondents being women and 44 percent
being men. Single-occupancy bathrooms that are used by both men and women are
the norm in 51 percent of all companies—characterized by Vault as a “significant
increase” from the era of separate toilets about 10 years ago.—Garry Kranz
