Not Ready for Work: With all their exposure to new technologies, it would appear
that young people entering the workforce from college would be uniquely equipped
to step into good jobs in information technology and communications. This,
however, is a myth, according to research compiled by the Sector Skills Council
for IT & Telecom, a nonprofit organization in Great Britain. Around one in
five employers cite gaps in technical skills and communications skills as
reasons they aren’t employing new graduates in these jobs, with nearly 40
percent of companies are dissatisfied with the “level of business, non-technical
and interpersonal skills” of new recruits.
