Recruiting:Spherion Corp.
is getting out of the HR consulting business. The Fort Lauderdale,
Florida-based company has sold its outplacement services arm, which accounted
for about $12 million in revenue in 2006, to Impact Group of St. Louis. Impact
specializes in relocation and career transition services. The transaction
enables Spherion, which had provided HR consulting services to about 300 global
organizations, to focus on growing its core business of staffing and
recruitment, the company said in a statement. Terms were not disclosed.
In two other deals, Staffing Now in Des Moines, Iowa, is acquiring Q&A
Recruiting of Dallas for an undisclosed sum, while Barrett Business Services
Inc. in Vancouver, Washington, has completed its acquisition of Salt Lake
City-based Strategic Staffing Inc. for $12 million in cash and “potential
additional consideration” tied to financial performance.
