Business Roundtable Rallies for Health Care Coverage: The Business
Roundtable, an employer group whose members provide health coverage for 35
million people, released its “principles for health care reform” in June. The
group continues to assert its belief that Americans should continue to receive
health care through their employer but says that “all Americans should have
access to affordable coverage.”
Echoing the policy points espoused by the Bush administration and seen in
recent state legislation, the Washington-based business group says Americans
should be required to purchase at least some form of health insurance. Emphasis
should be given to lowering health care costs and increasing quality through the
use of information technology, wellness and prevention programs, and price and
quality transparency.
