No Blighs Need Apply: The British Royal Navy and the Chartered Management
Institute are teaming to turn sailors into groundbreaking leaders. Under the
partnership, sailors who participate can network with top business leaders and
take management and executive training courses. The coursework includes
certificates in leadership and/or diplomas in management. Training courses take
six months to a year to complete and include practice on building effective
communication, managing diverse teams of people and performance counseling.
Sailors also could benefit from coaching and mentoring relationships.
British naval officials say it is intended to help sailors make a smooth
transition to the private sector should they leave military service.
