Logged In for Learning: Distance learning continues to come of age as a
viable option for business professionals. Duke University, Johns Hopkins
University and Stanford University are among the latest prestigious institutions
to have introduced online degree programs, according to a report by Fox News
Channel. People who pursue degrees online account for about 17 percent of the
total number of college students, the report says. Distance learning apparently
isn’t the province solely of larger institutions, with one-sixth of smaller
schools offering some online options.
In another report, the Alfred P. Sloane Foundation, a research organization,
has found that 62 percent of chief learning officers say online learning
produces results that are “equal to or better” than face-to-face offerings.
