A Few Good Recruits: Count the U.S. Marine Corps
among the organizations obsessed with talent development. The Corps is paying
about $14 million to revamp its workforce planning system. Hired to carry out
the upgrades is AT&T Government Solutions, part of telecommunications giant
AT&T Inc. The high-tech system, including customized Web-based tools, is
being developed to help hiring managers accurately forecast recruiting,
retention, staffing and career development needs, according to a statement from
AT&T.
