Dutch Treats: Vedior says “discussions are being held in a friendly way” with
fellow staffing company Randstad Holding NV
about a possible merger. Randstad may make an offer to buy out Netherlands-based
Vedior, according to separate statements issued by the two firms. If consummated, such a
transaction would “include a significant equity component,” although talks are
said to be at a preliminary stage. Randstad reportedly is set to pay more than
$5 billion in a cash-and-stock deal to acquire Vedior. The announcement comes on
the heels of Vedior’s proposal to acquire a controlling interest in German IT
staffing company GULP.
