Peer Review: Advisory firm the Hackett Group is seeking participants for an
upcoming study on learning and development. It seeks to help companies see how
their learning initiatives stack up to those of other organizations, according
to a statement by Hackett. Companies with revenues greater than $1 billion are
eligible to participate. There is no cost. The study will “evaluate where
companies are making investments, to determine how they can best allocate
spending and staffing to improve effectiveness” of learning and development
initiatives, Hackett says in a statement.
More than 40 different metrics will be captured and compared, including
training cost as a percentage of revenue, a breakdown of delivery costs per
training theme, internal and external program design and use rates, per-person
costs of training delivery, and the percentage of design. It will focus
specifically on the costs associated with designing and delivering training
programs in five key areas: new-product development, specific skills/technical
training, sales learning, professional development and leadership. Atlanta-based
Hackett Group says the tabulated results are expected to be released in June.
