A group representing brothels argues foreign sex workers are needed amid booming economic times.

“Skills” Shortage: An organization calling itself the Scarlet Alliance is
lobbying authorities to make it easier for foreign prostitutes to obtain skills
visas so they can work in local brothels. The group claims this would reduce
exploitation and cost the government less money than the $80 million spent to
raid brothels and deport the foreigners. Australia needs to import skilled sex
workers, it argues, just as the country needs more doctors and trades workers.
