Embittered U.S. workers lay the blame on politicians.

Taxation Without Representation: Amid the endless polls and nonstop coverage of
the presidential campaign, fed-up U.S. workers are losing hope. A new Zogby
International poll finds a staggering 75 percent no longer believe the “American
Dream”—namely, home ownership and financial security—are attainable goals.
Employees apparently believe the government is responsible for their care and
feeding, with 77 percent saying the government does not represent their concerns
on workplace issues such as retirement, health care, fuel prices and economic
woes. Workers ages 30-49 (47.5 percent) are the most bitter of all, but 38
percent of younger workers (ages 18-29) are equally disenchanted. The poll of
755 workers was conducted on behalf of the Marlin Co., a Connecticut firm
specializing in workplace communications.
