Worst Yet to Come: Workers in Wales and Scotland are glum about their job
prospects. During the next year, 20 percent of Welsh workers expect to lose
their jobs. Job confidence is nearly as low in Scotland, where 17 percent expect
to get the ax. About 12 percent in suburban London are bracing for the same
fate. Those findings are part of a report issued by Britain’s Trades Union
Congress, an employee rights group. With few exceptions, the report shows
workers are increasingly concerned across Great Britain. All told, about 13
percent of the country’s workforce, or 3.3 million people, believe they will be
out of a job within a year’s time.
