Crisis mounting as people watch standards of living erode.

Suffering: More than 123 million U.S. workers are enduring a “significant
decline in overall well-being” because of the rocky economy, a study concludes.
Nashville, Tennessee-based Healthways Inc., a wellness company, says that “those
struggling outnumber those thriving.” Its data were compiled in conjunction with
Gallup. Nearly 200,000 Americans participated in the six-month-long research
project that concluded in July. Healthways says the “well-being score” of
Americans is plummeting, dropping by 5.4 percent in correlation to troubles in
the U.S. economy. Another revelation: 42 percent say their standard of living is
eroding as a result, up sharply from 31 percent in January.
