As the mortgage crisis has grown, EAPs have seen the fallout. Many have reported an upturn in financial-stress calls to their help lines. In a recentWorkforce Management story on the mortgage-crisis’ effects, John Jones, financial counselor for Chicago-based ComPsych Corp., said that one out of three of his calls concern financial stress. That is two to three times the number of such calls he received a year ago. Other EAPs whose offerings include legal and financial counseling have reported a spike in calls related to foreclosures.
