The American Association of Suicidology's latest data from 2010 show more men committed suicide than women. Yet when it comes to calls fielded by employee assistance providers, women make up a substantially higher percentage of call volume.
Overall, women accounted for about 60 percent of the calls fielded by ComPsych Corp., a Chicago-based EAP, in 2012. Women are more likely to call with issues related to psychological problems, while men make up most of the calls dealing with substance abuse.
