Data Bank Focus: Hiring future leaders
Based on unemployment data, it appears that the war for talent continues in management, business, financial operations and professional occupations. In those fields, unemployment is consistently far below the national average. A recent survey on social recruiting from recruitment tracking software developer Jobvite shows that 77 percent of human resources and recruiting professionals expect increased competition for talent, with nearly 66 percent of companies intending to recruit this talent directly from their competitors.
The news is good for MBA graduates and experienced workers in management seeking new jobs. More companies expect to hire them this year, according to the GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey for 2011. The average starting salary of $91,433 for MBA graduates in 2011, up 2.6 percent from $89,141 in 2010, places them comfortably in the fourth quintile for mean household income.
