Management by Bubble Gum

August 26, 1999
Ever looked for an inexpensive way of brightening up the days of the people around you?

One Workforce member suggests "management by bubble gum." Keep a packet of bubble gum, candy, or something else in your drawer, and offer it up to someone now and again.

Maybe it's a frustrated employee whose computer is giving him or her fits. Maybe it's someone you'd like to make amends with. It could just be an employee you haven't caught up with in a while and want to say hello to.

Either way, it wins people’s hearts and has a personal touch. And we all know that sometimes it's the proverbial "little things" that can go a long way.
