Legal Diversity: Minorities Sought to Become Lawyers

Diversity initiative in Charlotte, N.C., driven by large corporations

Legal Diversity: Five large employers in Charlotte, North Carolina are teaming up to increase the number of minority lawyers. Bank of America Corp., Duke Energy Corp., Goodrich Corp., TIAA-CREF and Wachovia Corp. have signed an "action plan" to spearhead a diversity initiative, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. In conjunction with five Charlotte-area law firms, those corporations last summer launched a program that enabled minority law students to participate in a 12-week internship program.
