CAREER DEVELOPMENT
A Menu for Management
Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is zeroing
in on employee development as a way to combat turnover and
groom top performers for leadership roles. Themed after
the 1994 Tom Hanks film Forrest Gump, the restaurant franchise
is reshaping perceptions of the food service industry, which
for decades paid little attention to high turnover and even
less to career development.

DISCUSSION
Trainer Productivity Measurement
Posted in the
Training & Organizational Development Forum:
A reader writes: “One of the biggest challenges that I faced
as a trainer and now as training manager is how can I measure
my team’s productivity in statistical terms. The nature
of training that I am involved in is partly technical as
well as behavioral. The percentages between these do vary.
How can I effectively justify my contribution and evaluate
my effectiveness in monitory terms? For example: complaint
handling/sessions that need to be implemented as a result
of procedural changes. Can someone point me a way to approach
this issue?"
