about the 2007 United Auto Workers negotiations. The future of a deal to sell the company may hinge in part on his skills in dealing with the automaker's workforce.
All H-1B Immigration Visas Gone on First Day of Application: The cap was reached in record time. There were 150,000 applications for 65,000 H-1B visa slots on Monday, April 2, when the process officially began. By the end of the day all of the visas were taken.
America's Job Bank Rescue Effort All but Lost: Last year, the Labor Department said it planned to phase out America's Job Bank, arguing that maintaining and improving the site no longer makes sense. Earlier this year, a group of state administrators appealed to congressional leaders to keep the free online job site from shutting down in June.
