Open enrollment is an opportunity
to showcase for workers how well the company is taking care of them, according
to benefits and health care experts. And it's an opportune time not only
to educate workers about how to choose coverage wisely, but also to be sure
that they know doing so can preserve their health and perhaps save them
(and the company) money.

Postings to Baghdad
Posted in the General Forum:
A reader writes: “I was wondering about the issues thrown up by the latest
directive from the diplomatic service which 'insists' that employees be
posted to the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad. Can one refuse? Can one be terminated

Retirement benefits
Feature: Cash-Balance Plans May Make a Comeback
Two years ago, the
phrase “cash-balance plan” sent shivers down the spines of benefit managers.
In fact, about the only time the term came up was when executives discussed
how to get out of the plans. But now, thanks to the Pension Protection Act
and a key court decision favoring cash-balance plans, which are a hybrid
of defined-benefit and defined-contribution plans, a number of large organizations
are considering them as part of their benefit packages.

retirement plans. >>>
