"We have an obese employee who needs to attend a mandatory training. He will need to fly to the training location. The airline requires he purchase a second seat due to his size. Our policy is to reimburse employees who attend this training for costs of travel. However, paying for two seats for one person was not anticipated. Is the employer responsible for paying for both seats for a mandatory training? Are there any potential legal risks if we require the employee to pay for one seat and the company to pay for the second?"
